Mildred A. Buhr, 96, of Sumner, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church-Buck Creek with Rev. Sandra Burroughs officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2014, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Tuesday.
Mildred Anna, daughter of William and Alvina Bruss Timm, was born June 2, 1917, near Woodlake, Minnesota. She was baptized June 17, 1917, and confirmed March 20, 1932, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Posen Township, Minnesota. Mildred received her education in the Woodlake area schools. On July 17, 1935, Mildred was united in marriage with Reinhard A. Buhr in Minnesota. Sh assisted her husband on their farm near Buck Creek, and remained in the Buck Creek area prior to becoming a resident of the Hillcrest Home in Sumner in January of 2009. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church-Buck Creek where she was active in WELCA and the quilting group. In addition to quilting, Mildred enjoyed gardening, fishing and being grandma. She is survived by one son, Dennis Buhr of Tripoli; one daughter, Julianne Zander of Fairbank; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Homme of California.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhard in May of 1982; one son, Lowell; one granddaughter, Penny Bobst; six siblings; one son-in-law, Lloyd Zander; and one daughter-in-law, Jeannine Buhr.
